Anchogong is an element constructed on the upside of columns of Dapo styled building. Anchogong was originated in the 17century and its record was generated the 18century later. This study is purposed to examine the role of Anchogong by investigating character and function of Anchogong and to understand the building constructed with Anchogong. Characteristics of Anchogong existing during 3centuries are related with ornamental tendency in late Joseon Danasty. And the tandancy of Anchogong becoming standardized in late Joseon Danasty worked for the completion of Dapo styled building. Transition in Anchogong is also a case that hard to find in the other elements from building since Anchogong was transformed in two different ways with its building type. |
