Seismic fragility curves of structures represent the probability of exceeding the prescribed structural damage state for a given various levels of ground motion intensities. Because the seismic fragility curves proposed in previous investigations have focused on the bridges in high seismic zones, so those are not practical to evaluate individual bridges in Korea. And there is evidence indicating that ground shaking near a fault rupture may be characterized by a short-duration impulsive motion that exposes structures to high imput energy at the beginning of the record. So the purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of near fault and far fault ground motions on the seismic fragility curves. It was observed that the fragility curves showed a strong correlation with the earthquake parameters and the near fault and far fault earthquakes should be considered in developing fragility curves. |
