The purpose of this study is to identify the elements affecting the perception of court area in korean traditional house. The court area is limited by podium, exterior wall, and the line of eaves. Prescribing court area is limited by the line of eaves(2kan?2kan), and by the line of eaves to the line of the ridge of a roof(3kan?3kan). but 4kan?4kan is prescribed into the space over the line of the ridge of a roof. Especially, 3kan?3kan is conversion point, so it is selected. The size of court area limited by podium is determined by podium width. The podium height is 650mm and 250mm. When the podium is rising in 650mm, it divides exterior area, but eyesight is continuous. When the podium is low in 240mm, it is weakly able to divide exterior area. The perception of court area limited by exterior wall is affected exits, wall and openings, windows and doors pattern. The court area is percepted with cube in balance by exit in the middle. Overall, 'half-openings' take up lots of space, then its enclosure is weaken. but, it is controled by windows and doors pattern. Most of exterior wall have wooden door, lattice door, and lattice window, and they raise visual weight. The imaginary cube to reach to the line of eaves is changed by different eaves height. And if the thickness is thin, the ridge of a roof height is low and its enclosure becomes weak. |
