¿ä¾à2 The purpose of this study is to understand the changes in using the space at the elementary schools and to predict the trend of space efficiency at the school by various researches ; the downward trend of school-aged children from 2000 to 2030, and the actual conditions of the unused classrooms on the elementary schools in Busan and Japan. From the research, we realized that the number of unused classrooms will be increasing rapidly by the decreasing of school-aged children. Although there are many kinds of name on the unused classrooms, we find out that current situation is very negative to use these classrooms without practical reasons or reform them by educational purposes. This study suggests that there should be an actual vision and support to develop these unused spaces at the school for improving the quality in education and diversion of function to the facilities of the community or welfare in the region.
