¿ä¾à2 The word 'space' has occupied the most dominating and fascinating position in describing architecture. The word, attained abstract implication without materialistic character of building, has been incorporated into architecture since the late 19th century. Translated from the German word 'Raum' which has broad meaning ranging from space to room in English, space renders difficulty to pinpoint when and how it was entitled its position in architecture. The abstract meaning of 'space' has served as the invaluable advocates to secure architect and architecture its position in the domain of fine arts against the attack of German philosophers for the materialistic nature architecture has. Abstract concept of time or medium of painting had helped space be the single most important word describing architecture in in-materialistic context. It can be designated that Theo van Doesburg and Laslo Moholy-Nagy were the most important players in placing space the most pronounced slogan in architecture with Bauhaus as its carrier of publicity.
