Greenhouse gases and global warming problems arose as a global issue. Reducing heat loss through building envelope can save significant amount of energy used in buildings. Internal Insulation system is usually applied to the apartment in Korea. In this case, the layer of insulation is disconnected by structural components at the joints of wall-slab and wall-wall. These joints become thermal bridges at which the risk of inside surface condensation and heat loss increase. In this study, linear thermal transmittance of typical thermal bridges in apartment building envelope was evaluated in case of applying internal insulation system(existing case) and external insulation system which can be a solution for eliminating thermal bridges. |
