The purpose of this paper is to derive urban design characteristics that could be applied to Korea's waterfront regeneration, through analyzing waterfront regeneration cases in U.S.. Portland city, Providence city and Seoul city are selected as case study. This paper goes over the background and relative efforts for waterfront regeneration, waterfront development plan and urban design characteristics in each case. At first, this paper draws an analyzing frameworks for urban design characteristics in waterfront regeneration. Through the literature review, second, it compares waterfront plan and waterfront urban design characteristics. At the end, it draws some implication to future waterfront regeneration in Korea. |
