¿ä¾à2 This is the second of two companion papers that describe non-prismatic beam element for nonlinear seismic analysis of steel moment frames. The companion paper presents a non-prismatic beam element for modeling the elastic and inelastic behavior of steel beams, which have reduced beam sections(RBS). This study defines the characteristics of the discrete plastic sub-element of RBS beam element to model the inelastic behavior of the RBS steel beam. The characteristics of the plastic hinges is defined by calibrating analytical results to test data and FEM results. Analytical results of the RBS beam element show good correlation with test data and FEM results.
