Recently, many tall buildings have been constructed and planned in Korea. But, KBC 2005 is not adequate for designing these tall buildings, because it has no adequate provision for the special structural systems of these tall buildings and does not contain the exceptions for designing tall building, Recently, Los Angeles tall buildings Structural Design Council (LATBSDC) published an alternative procedure for seismic analysis and design of tall buildings located in the Los Angeles region as a consensus document. The objective of this paper is to provide guide line for analysis and design of tall buildings in Korea through the review of an alternative seismic design procedure suggested in LABSDC. |
