The world, having experienced strong growth with increased industrial development, has produced enormous progress in the medical field, and the development of medical arts through the 20th century.
As our country is also joining that trend, the aged population is growing. Together with increasing average life spans, due to advances in medical techniques and higher levels of living, the primary causes of death in society changing from infectious diseases to chronic degenerative diseases, including cancers, has resulted in the number of patients in the later years of their lives increasing.
This study is designed to research and analyze the actual conditions in whichindependent hospice facilities are being used. This project is conducted in consideration that hospices tend to focus on provide relief from, and control over, pain, and the maintenance of a peaceful state of mind for their patients. This project seeks to establish a well-planned and systemic direction for independent hospice facilities, wherein patients in the final stages of life can be effectively provided with a quiet and hospitable environment, wherein those patients’ space planning and functional problems can be solved according to the characteristics and behavior patterns of the patients. |
