성곽은 적의 습격에 대비하여, 흙이나 돌로 구축한 방어시설을 총칭한다. 우리나라의 성곽을 대표하는 건축물 중에 하나인 화성(華城)은 지금으로부터 약 210여 년 전인 1796년에 완공된 성이며, 조선조 제 22대 왕인 정조가 정쟁에 휘말리어 억울하게 돌아가신 부친 사도세자에 대한 효성심과 강력한 왕조정치를 위하여 계획한 성곽도시이다. 성곽의 전체길이는 약 5.74km이며, 면적은 1,297,060 ㎡ 이며, 성곽을 중심으로 성곽의 내. 외부에 도시가 구성되어 있다. 5.74km길이의 성곽에는 동서남북의 4개 관문을 중심으로, 2곳의 장대, 통신시설인 1개의 봉돈, 5개의 포루(砲樓), 5개의 포루(?樓), 2개의 노대, 4개의 각루가 있다. 또한 성안에 흐르는 수원천 위에 2개의 수문이 설치되어 있는 등 총 50여개의 성곽시설물로 구성되어 있다. 화성은1997년 12월 4일 세계문화유산으로 등록되었을 뿐만 아니라, 2004년 5월 ACSE (미국토목학회)에서 역사적인 토목구조물상을 받는 등 역사적으로 높은 가치를 지니고 있을 뿐만 아니라 국제적 이목이 집중되고 있다. 이에 따라, 수원시는 2001년부터 2003년까지 3차례의 심의를 거쳐, 수원화성의 야간경관조명연출을 계획하고, 도시의 아이덴티티와 예술적이고 문화적인 가치를 증대시키기 위하여, 약 30여억 원의 예산을 들여 야간경관조명계획을 실시하여, 2005년 4월 공사를 완료하였다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 우리나라의 경관조명 사업 중 최대 규모를 자랑하는 화성을 중심으로 경관 조명현황 특성을 분석하는데 연구목적이 있다. |

This study is to analyze the luminous characteristics of the illuminated Hwaseong fortress, which was enlisted as a World Cultural Heritage site by UNESCO in December, 1997. Four primary facilities that considered as representative structures of the Hwaseong fortress were selected : the inner wall surface, the outer wall surface, Bongdon(beacon tower), and Dongiporu(sentry tower). Prometric 1400, a kind of digital photometry, luminance meter(CS-100) and camera were used to measure the luminance, color temperature and chromaticity. The results show that the image of the illuminated inner wall surface creates a continuity of the wall and a sense of rhythm by contrast of luminous intensity. It is shown that warm color temperature of light source makes the cold image of the fortress as more stable and soft. A careful consideration must be taken in selection of a color of light source, because its role is very important to enhance Korean traditional architectural details and features such as Dancheong and building materials. |
