디스플레이와 미술은 목적을 달리하는 예술이지만, 그 둘은 미적 체험이라는 수단을 함께 한다. 이로써 현대미술의 다양한 상황과 디스플레이 경향을 상관시켜 두 조형예술간의 동조성(同調性)을 살릴 수 있을 것이다. 물론 디스플레이는 상업 디자인으로서 경영목적을 기반으로 하지만, 어떤 미적 추구를 사회화한다는 뜻에서는 연계가 된다. 현재 디스 플레이의 시대적 위상과 지향성이 체계적으로 정리되어 있지 않고, 미학적 전개도 충분하지가 않지만 이러한 디스플레이 예술의 현재와 미래의 차원을 미술사적 전개와 결부하여 찾는 것이 미술사의 동태성(動態性)이라는 의미에서 유효할 것이다.
하지만, 디스플레이를 현대미술과 연관시켜서 조형적으로 규명하는 것이 가능할까라는 의구심은 현대미술의 다양성에서 그 해답을 찾을 수 있을 것이다. 물론 상업공간에서의 판매극대화를 꾀하기 위하여 이루어지는 디스 플레이 연출이 예술 작품으로 구분하기에는 많은 문제점을 가지고 있는 것 또한 사실이지만 "예술은 의도적인 인간 활동"으로 미(美)의 추구를 목표로 삼고있는 기본 이념과 디스플레이의 공간의 조형적인 활동과는 맥을 같이 하고 있으며, 양적으로나 질적으로나 많은 부분을 담당하는 공간예술로서 평가하는 일 또한 의의가 있다고 본다.
이러한 측면에서 디스플레이가 미술사조와 어떠한 연관성을 가지면서 표현 되는지, 또한 예술적 의의를 지닌 조형양식으로 말 할 수 있는지에 관한 문제 를 본 논문에서 살펴보고자 한다. 현대의 미술사는 다양한 미술 경향이 모두 일관된 형식으로 이루어지지는 않으며, 한가지 경향의 이론적 배경에 일치하는 경우도 있으나 일치하지 않는 경우도 많다. 한 경향 내에서도 예술 가들의 의지와 표현이 다양하고, 이러한 경향은 디스플레이에서도 마찬가지 로 나타나고 있다. 현대 미술사조를 단면화 하여 보았을 때 가장 두드러지는 몇 가지 미술사조를 중심으로 공통적인 주제와 표현방법 등을 찾아보고 연관 성을 비교 분석하여 현대 디스플레이가 단순한 스타일로 말하여지기에는 양적으로나 질적으로 한계를 넘어서기 때문에 그를 미학적으로 해석하는 일 또한 의미가 있다고 믿는다. |

Display and art have different purposes. But they share a common mean, so-called artistic experience. These two formative arts could be aligned by correlating display trend with the various situation of modern art. Though display belongs to a part of business that seeks the profit as a commercial design, it has some relationship with art in the aspect of socialization of pursuit of aesthetics. Although the historical status and directivity of display have not been established systemiically yet, and aesthetic expansion of display is uncertain it would be effective that the present and future of display art is connected with art history in the view of dynamic state of art history.
In this thesis, the issues such as what is the relationship between display and art history or whether display can be mentioned as a formative art were analyzed by matching them with the trends in art history like naturalism, high tech, minimalism and so on. Modern display is a commercial design that can be developed in various ways and that is related to the customers very closely. It will be changed continuously and create artistic execution regarding customers taste in the same way as development of art history. |
