이 논문의 의도는 디테일의 의미와 기능에 대해 논하고 그 본질에 접근함으로써 고대로부터 건축가가 지녀 온 장인정신을 재발견하고자 함이다. 그 이유는 디테일은 건축이 갖고 있는 시학적 본질, 즉 창조적인 예술행위의 가장 작은 단위가 되는 것이다. 다시말해 건축적 의미전달의 최소단위로서 건축적 사유의 대상물이기 때문이다. 이 바탕에는 건축의 축조는 재료와 재료의 결합에 있고 그 결합에서는 조인트가 발생하며 그 조인트에는 디테일이 존재한다는 사상이 깔려 있다. 따라서 디테일에는 축조의 디테일이 있을 것이고 조인트를 감추거나 강조하는 몰딩, 그리고 그것을 장식하는 디테일이 나타날 것이다. 디테일에 대한 해석과 이해는 각 시대의 건축유형과 사고에 영향을 미치며, 또한 그 시대의 기술적 배경과 함께, 그 지역의 문화와 전통, 그리고 장인정신을 포함한 시적이고 미적인 예술의 시각에서 이루어져야 한다. |

It is the intention of this research to discuss the meaning and function of detail, and make an approach to the intrinsic nature of architecture, and finally rediscover the craftsmanship which modern architecture buries in oblivion.??Detail is the minimal unit of the creative art work which is the poetic attribute within architecture, in other words, the minimal unit of signification in the architectural production of meanings. The construction of architecture is the joining of materials, the result of which is detail generated at the place, and is called joint. There are some sets of details which are produced for construction, and??moldings which conceal or emphasize joints, and ornaments which are “the adoration of the joint." The interpretation and comprehension of detail shall affect the architectural style and thought of each era. It represents the technology of the era as well as the culture and the tradition of the region, and expresses the craftsmanship through the eyes of poetics and arts. |
