¿ä¾à2 It is the intention of this research to discuss the meaning and function of detail, and make an approach to the intrinsic nature of architecture, and finally rediscover the craftsmanship which modern architecture buries in oblivion.??Detail is the minimal unit of the creative art work which is the poetic attribute within architecture, in other words, the minimal unit of signification in the architectural production of meanings. The construction of architecture is the joining of materials, the result of which is detail generated at the place, and is called joint. There are some sets of details which are produced for construction, and??moldings which conceal or emphasize joints, and ornaments which are ¡°the adoration of the joint." The interpretation and comprehension of detail shall affect the architectural style and thought of each era. It represents the technology of the era as well as the culture and the tradition of the region, and expresses the craftsmanship through the eyes of poetics and arts.
