본 연구는 산업혁명시대의 대표적인 전시공간인 수정궁(Crystal Palace)의 특성과 최근의 정보혁명시대의 전시공간인 밀레니엄 돔(Millenium Dome)의 특성의 비교를 통하여 근간의 전시공간이 지금의 사회가 지향하는 다원성과 어떠한 관련을 맺고 있는가를 연구하기 위함이다. 이는 결국 산업혁명시대의 기하학적 공간형태 및 공간구조와 정보혁명시대의 탈 기하학적 공간형태 및 공간구조의 비교분석, 그리고 이를 통한 두 시대의 사회, 문화적 관련성에 관한 것이라고 할 수 있다.
본 연구를 통하여 사회, 문화적 상황의 변화가 그것이 에워싸고 있는 물질세계 및 인간 활동에 어떠한 영향을 주고 있는 가를 이해할 수 있으며 지금의 사회에서 발견되는 사회 현상과 이러한 상황하에서 사회 교육적 역할을 담당하고 있는 전시 공간 사이의 관계를 정립하여 이 시대의 전시 공간이 갖추어야할 역할을 말하게 된다. 그리고, 이러한 역할의 이해는 최근의 사회적 상황하에서 전시를 위한 물리적 환경과 공간의 구성이 갖추어야 할 내용을 말해준다. 결국, 모든 사회적 생산물들이 그러하듯이 특정한 문화적 상황 속에서 만들어지는 인간의 창조물들을 통하여 그 시대의 사회가 지향하는 바가 표현되고 있다고 했을 때, 본 연구는 전시공간의 변화가 그 시대의 특수한 사회적 상황을 표현하고 있음을 보여주는 연구가 된다. |

Since the Industrial Revolution of the 19th century, the amount of information has been increased rapidly with the property which the machine provided. In this circumstances, the media was so limited that the new way of communication came to require the Exposition. Since this, the Exposition became popular to the public with the industrialism. The product that a machine produce was the same in terms of its form and this way of producing affected the way of exposition. Therefore, the environment of exposition was homogeneous. Now, the information revolution is replacing the industrialism and the space of exposition is totally different from the past.
This study is for the search of how the differences of the way of exposition in terms of its spatial environment between the industrial revolution and the information one are related to the social situation. These differences includes spatial one and formal one. |
