This study aims to find out the historical background and architectural design points of 'Glasshouse for Exhibition'. Through the historical approach and the result of comparison and evaluation of glasshouse for exhibition, following items were found out ; 1) The glasshouse was developed to meet functional requirements - to cultivate and keep tropical plants-, and it is supposed that these currents had been settled as functionalism. 2) The currents of glasshouse in the 20th century could be classified into two ways. One is for cultivation, which is developed for exhibition later. The other one is new type of architecture combined with atrium or arcade. 3) There are some advantages to have an inclined land that can be utilized for controlling the environmental factor. For structural system, the steel(ceiling) and reinforced concrete(wall) structure for heat-containing effect is used more effectively. 4) In case of some other facilities being put together with glasshouse, most of them have characteristics of theme park combined with a natural park. And it is primarily concerned to provide attached facilities for a pleasant environment for visitors and various functions of the glasshouse. 5) It is necessary to provide pleasant environment for visitors but basically it should have a good condition for plants. As 'Glasshouse for Exhibition'is a complex facility, systematic and continuing analysis is especially required |
