This study empirically analyzes the characteristics of Incheon's multicentralization process, on the assumption that the process is driven by the change of urban activities. This study identifies activity centers and characterizes them using the attraction indices of passage and influence. The results show that the spatial structure of Incheon became more concentrated in 2002 than in 1996 and that the main functions of the centers are differentiated. Also, the analyses indicate that the influences of the existing C.B.D are weakened, while the functions and the influences of subcenters are strengthened, and lastly that influences of the centers in Incheon are growing more rapidly than the rest areas. |
