Eco-paradigm has been studied in varies field of contemporary architecture and urbanism, but limited to superficial aspect. We have to investigate deeper properties of natural system and the potentialitiy of their architectural applicaion. To consider architecture and city as organism with evolution, the properties and??architectural applications of self-organization were studied. Self- organization is the prime condition of complex system that is at the edge of chaos and cosmos, and is the evolution of a system into an organized form in the absence of external constraints. Self- organization in architecture has typical features that are Absence of external control, Symmetry breaking, Self-maintenance and Adaptation, Hierachies. In architectural application, four groups are correspond to each features of self-organization ;intensionally exclusion of architect's will, finding forms using Criticality of material, creation of sustainable time-factor, and introduction of fractal concept. |
