유물은 전시 및 외부로의 대출 등 일부 기간 이외에는 연중 대부분의 기간을 수장고에서 보내게 되며, 총 수장자료 중 극히 일부의 유물들이 전시실에 진열되는 것이 일반적이기 때문에 현대 박물관 건축은 기능적 필요성에 따라 유물의 적정한 보존책을 강구하기 위한 환경적인 정비가 수장부문의 최대 테마라고 할 수 있다.
그러나 국내의 경우 대다수의 박물관 계획이 건축 의장적 측면과 전시디자인에 치중되어 유물의 보존측면이 상대적으로 소홀히 취급되어 결과적으로 양호한 수장영역의 구축과 그 개선이 비교적 미흡한 실정이다.
따라서 본 연구는 위와 같은 배경 하에 해외 우수 박물관 수장고의 건축특성과 보존환경 실태 분석을 통하여 유물의 속성을 고려한 보존과학적인 입장을 공간계획에 접목시키기 위한 환경 시스템을 검토함으로서 국내 신축 및 기존 박물관 수장고의 환경개선과 합리적인 건축계획 수립에 대한 방향제시를 목적으로 하고 있다.

Generally, except the time when the relics of the museum are exhibited or loaned to the public, they are stored in a storage. And it is a common view that collections are exhibited a few of total stored collections in a museum. Therefore, the environmental condition of a storage is an important factor.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of overseas museum storage and suggest a useful guideline of planning the storage an existing or new-built museum according to environment condition. So this study is based on the theoretical foundation, thesis had been stated and massive informations had been inquired from 1988 to 1997. In addition, seven overseas museum storages are examined through on the spot investigation while lots of overseas cases are surveyed during three months in 2000.
Hereafter it compares the actual condition and problems of the domestic museum planning with the ones abroad, and analyzes the characteristic and difference between the two, and then establish an organized storage system. |
