The purpose of this study was to analyze the children's outdoor play & social maturity on the housing types and to figure out the relationship between the high-rise living and the children's development. For the analysis, 263 survey data were collected by the parents of the 5 and 6 age children to be attended 6 kindergartens, in Taejon city, Korea. The survey was organized into two parts, the questionnaire and the Korean Vineland Social Maturity Scale, which carried out from September 19 to October 20, 1999. The results of this study were as follows 1) The children's outdoor playtime rates were relative to the housing types. The more the rates increased and the higher was the social development on the locomotion. 2) The rates and their outdoor behavior by theirselves were relative to the apartment block types & the height of dwelling on the super high-rise apartment blocks. The more of the rates & the behavior and the higher of the social development. 3) So the high-rise dwellings had indirectly effect on the children's social development. 4) Also the high-rise dwellings had little relation to the children's outdoor play areas & activities and the their social development. |
