This study investigates the characteristics, usage patterns, and user satisfaction of lake parks in four major new towns within the Seoul Metropolitan Region: Ilsan, Dongtan, Gwanggyo, and Unjeong. A user survey assessed satisfaction with the parks, facilities, and accessibility. User behavior was observed across weekdays in morning and afternoon sessions using a 50¡¿50 meter grid system. Analysis revealed higher park usage in the afternoons compared to mornings, except in Unjeong. Users primarily utilized the circulating trails surrounding the lakes rather than focusing on specific anchor facilities. Walking and resting near the lake's edge were the most common observed behaviors, with resting heavily concentrated in shaded areas with good lake views. Notably, Dongtan and Gwanggyo displayed high activity levels in park areas adjacent to commercial facilities. Additionally, a high concentration of users was observed at the main park entrances. Unjeong's lower user satisfaction was attributed to the significant elevation difference between the surrounding area and the lake trail, hindering accessibility to the lake itself. The presence or absence of trees and shade significantly impacted user behavior across all parks. The study concludes that the lake itself serves as a more critical factor for park activation compared to specialized anchor facilities or programs. |
