The purpose of this study is to derive the meditation forest design plan for various user needs based on direct user¡¯s participation in design. Participatory design workshops using questionnaires and drawings were conducted for all students and staff. The contents of the main survey questionnaire are the required elements, demand, and desired types of space and facilities by users for meditation forest. To derive the final design proposal, the main survey questionnaire and 72 meditation forest design proposals created by users were synthesized and analyzed in the study. As a result, the factors to be considered in the design of meditation forest were functionality, activity space, and naturalness. Users selected rest, walk, exercise, raising animals and plants as a desired activity, and the desired space appeared as shelters, natural forests, walking trails, and exercise area. In the design of meditation forest by users, 3-4 types of space appeared on average, and the most common types of space were resting area, planting area, exercise area, and an ecological pond. For path designs, the simple circulation around the gymnasium has generally appeared. Based on these results, two design alternatives can be proposed focusing on the basic type with the relaxation function of the meditation forest. The first is an active type that enhances exercise and play functions, and the second is a static type that strengthens meditation and education functions. |
