¿ä¾à2 The lifting of designation for city parks is one of the big issues to be solved by municipalities in Korea. In order to develop a methodology and implications for creating city parks for everyone against the lifting, the authors designed a simulation study to develop a evaluation tool for the accessibility and efficiency of various alternatives for neighborhood parks through spatial analysis with catchment-area-based accessibility index in Gwangju city. The authors evaluated the possible cases through the simulation study, and figured out which alternatives be better. The simulation results show that the parks are better accessible when their catchment areas do not overlap each other or when most of their catchment areas overlap with dense residential areas. In addition, The results suggest an alternative that will allow for more efficient planning of the park, even if the parks have similar levels of access. Moreover, the results revealed which alternatives have a good accessibility level compared to the park size through the efficiency evaluation. Hence, it is necessary to adopt a series of spatial analysis techniques included accessibility index to meet the equity for making the public facilities such as parks, open spaces, and schools open to the public. With the techniques, the committees of experts and citizens are able to make the final decision with reviewing various alternatives by quantitative indicators.
