Recently, government had introduced policies and plans to develop New Growth Engine Industries. These policies and plans should be based on locational distribution and agglomeration characteristics of these industries. However, it is hard to find studies about New Growth Engine Industries. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze locational distribution and agglomeration characteristics of New Growth Engine Industries. We used economic census data from Statistics Korea. We analyzed locational distribution by locational center point & standard distribution, and analyzed agglomeration characteristics by NNI(Nearest Neighbor Index). Major results of this study are as follows. First, after 2005, moving patterns of industrial locational center points are categorized three groups: keep moving to the south; moving back to the north; turning to the east. Second, standard distance of Green-Tech Industry and Conversion Industry is increasing, however, standard distance of High-Value Service Industry is decreasing. Third, New Growth Engine Industries' degree of agglomeration is not big as high-tech industries such as IT & BT. Fourth, agglomerated regions of service related industries are Yeouido, Gangnam, Seocho in Seoul and Yuseong in Daejeon, and agglomerated regions of manufacturing related industries are Namdong¡¤Sihwa¡¤Banwol industrial complexes. |
