자동차 중심 도시교통 체계로 인한 문제를 해결하기 위한 대안으로서 보행 친화적 도시설계의 중요성이 대두되고 있다. 특히 도심부의 재생 측면에서 상업가로의 활성화 중요성이 부각되면서 보행 친화적 가로환경을 조성하고자 하는 노력들이 여러 도시들에서 진행되고 있다. 그러나 보행을 주제로 한 연구들은 근린차원 내지는 거주지 중심의 보행환경에 집중하고 있어 실제 도시재생을 위한 중요 계획 대상인 상업지역에서의 보행활동에 대한 연구는 상대적으로 미흡한 실정이다. 본 연구의 목적은 도시 내 상업가로의 물리적 특성과 보행활동간의 연관성을 분석하여 상업가로의 보행 친화적 정비를 위한 중요 계획요소를 도출하고, 이를 통해 상업지역의 보행 활성화를 위한 가로 정비 방향을 제시하는데 있다. 본 연구에서는 특히 상업 가로를 가로망 특성에 따라 격자형과 비격자형 가로로 구분하고 이러한 가로망 특성의 차이가 보행과 가로의 물리적 환경사이의 상호작용에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 분석하였다. 가로의 물리적 특성은 보행자의 직접적 인지영역으로 볼 수 있는 가로변 1층부의 입면 및 토지이용 특성과 보행로 특성으로 한정하였으며, 공간구문론(Space Syntax) 분석에 의한 가로의 국부통합도(local integration)를 측정하여 분석가로의 공간적 위계에 의한 보행밀도의 차이를 분석하였다. |

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between pedestrian traffic volume and the urban environmental factors of streets in commercial areas. The analysis examines the effects of ground level facades and land use factors on pedestrian traffic volume at street level. The effect of the street configuration on the relationship between pedestrian traffic volume and urban environmental factors of streets are compared. The results of the analysis indicate that the permeability of wall structures and clothing retail uses at ground level, as well as good street connectivity are significantly associated with an increase in pedestrian traffic volume in commercial areas. The effects of these factors, however, are differentiated by the street configuration. |
