Formaldehyde-type adhesive was prepared from liquefied wood. The effects of the liquefaction and resinification conditions on the adhesive properties were investigated. The Liquefaction of wood catalyzed with 5% of phenol sulfonic acid at 150¢ªc for 30 minutes can be considered as a very appropnate condition for the preparation of adhesive. And the resinification of liquefied wood at 90¢ªc for 30 minutes was good for the preparation of adhesive. The adhesive strength(tensile shear strength after cyclic boil test) of the resinified liquefied(phenolated) wood met Korean Standard of commercial phenol-formaldehyde adhesive for plywood(KS M3702). However, the the storage life at 60 t and th ¥å viscosity of prepared adhesive were below standard. Key words: resinification, liquefaction, phenol, adhesive, tensile shear strength |
