¿ä¾à2 This study analysed the characteristics of the night scenery of business areas of Changwon city in terms of time and space, time representing night and space representing business area, for the purpose of vitalizing around them as business area located at the heart of the city which is classified into a small and medium-size one, based on the data resulting from this study. The increase in the activities of people at night draws attention into the night scenery of business areas located at the heart of city. Of various characteristics of these business areas, this study focused on the physical ones, and examined the physical amount of the pedestrians who pass through the streets of the areas at night. The results indicated that the physical amount of the pedestrians who pass through the streets which were selected for examination were largely influenced by showcases and luminative advertisements, especially in relation to the use of first floor of the buildings of the streets. This suggests that it is imperative for the physical factors and the lighting environment to be improved. Since the streets of business areas play not only their unique function as street but also as the place in which people come and go in relation to buying and selling things, they should have comfortable lightings for the pedestrians.
