지구상의 모든 생물은 자연의 법칙에 따라 생존한다. 그리고, 오직 인간만이 과학기술의 힘에 의해 자연을 변형하며 조절하여 환경에 적응하게 된다. 이러한 자연에 대한 인간의 이기심은 점차 생태계의 파괴로 이어졌으며, 1970년대 서구사회에서 문제되기 시작한 자연생태계의 위기는 단순히 초기에 앞서만 가던 선진국에 국한된 것은 아니었다. 점차 생태계의 위기는 전 인류의 생존이 달린 심각한 문제가 되어버렸고, 유토피아적인 미래를 꿈꾸던 인간의 이상향 대신에 생태계의 오염, 자원의 고갈, 인간의 소외화 등의 문제를 안고 21세기로 넘어왔다.
오늘날의 인류는 어찌할 수 없는 현실에 인위적으로 적응하며, 자연환경으로의 복귀를 지향하고 있으며, 위기상황에 대한 인식은 자연환경을 유린한 인공환경과 인간의 기본적인 욕구와 희망을 좌절시킨 과학기술 문명에서 비롯하였다. 인간 대 자연이라는 이원론적 사고는 기계주의적 패러다임에서 오늘날 생태학적 패러다임으로 점차 전개되면서 자연이 인간의 일부분으로 인식되었다. 이러한 점은 모든 영역간의 상호관계성과 의존성(依存性) 그리고, 가변성을 수용하는 모더니즘 이후의 다원주의적 태도와 병행하는 것으로 새로운 철학적 물리학적 사상과 함께하며, 새로운 세계관에 기초한 ‘신 과학 운동’을 추구하게 되었다. 그리고, 이러한 사상체계는 전일론적 (Holistic Worldview) 세계관을 유도하여 부분과 전체가 분리될 수 없는 유기적이며 상보적인 ‘하나’로 보았다.
인류가 직면한 자연환경의 위기에 대한 해결책으로 생태학적 세계관은 지구를 구성하는 모든 요소를 하나의 생명체로 이해하며, 자연을 단순히 정복대상으로 생각하지 않고, 인류의 근원적인 모체이며, 조화를 찾기 위한 대상으로 바라보고 있다. 즉, 인간과 자연의 중간자적인 역할로서의 디자인의 영역과 방법론이 모색되어야 하며, 인류의 참다운 발전은 자연과의 지속적인 공존이며, 조화를 이룰 수 있는 문화를 이룩하는 방향을 찾는것이다.
현대건축이 과거의 기계론적 패러다임에서 생태학적 패러다임으로의 전개되면서 인간과 자연환경 그리고, 건축의 삼각관계에서 디자인 사고체계에 대해 새로운 방법의 틀을 제시되어야 하며, 이러한 디자인의 틀을 통해서만이 인간과 자연 그리고, 건축이 상호공존하며, 삶의 질을 향상시킬 수 있을것이다. 생태학적 디자인의 틀은 기존에 논의 되고 있는 생태학의 개념과 생태계의 특성을 파악하며, 건축에서의 생태미학의 원리를 바탕으로 구체적인 생태학적 디자인의 개념화 과정을 도출하였다.
생태학적 디자인 개념화 과정에서 도출한 5가지의 전체적 통일성, 유기적 구성의 다양성, 진화와 성장, 물질과 에너지의 순환성, Context에 의한 상호보완성은 생태계의 유기체적인 특성과 생태미학에서 제시하는 개념과 연관된 성격을 지니며, 오늘날의 현대건축에서의 생태학적 디자인 표현경향을 미학적인 측면에서 바라보면서 개념화의 틀을 통해 분석하였다.
전체적 통일성은 형태적인 측면으로 자연의 형상에 따른 모방과 유추 그리고, 지형의 표면에 건축물이 일체화되며, 건축물 자체가 자연화 되는 성격을 가진다. 그리고, 공간적인 측면으로 위계적인 지형에 순응하는 질서체계를 가지며, 유리의 표면에서 나타나는 특성을 이용하여 주변환경을 통합하는 성격을 반영하고, 주변환경과의 동일한 색채를 건축물의 표면에 도입함으로서 주변 환경과의 적극적인 조화를 시도하였다.
유기적 구성의 다양성은 건축물 자체를 외부환경에 대응하는 유기체적인 성격으로 바라본다. 대지에 대응하는 측면에서 건축물은 지형의 역동적인 흐름과 선적 질서에 대응하는 방식으로 나타나며, 이는 자연의 질서체계에 따른 안정적인 구축체계를 반영한다. 그리고, 오브제의 시각적 다양화에 따른 측면에서 건축물의 다양한 켜를 형성하여 시각적으로 다양한 효과를 반영한다.
진화와 성장은 건축물이 유기체를 내▪외부에 도입 또는, 침투시킴으로 인해서 수직적, 수평적으로 형성하여 건축물 그 자체가 진화, 성장하는 성격을 반영한다. 그리고, 건축물의 생애주기에 따라 공간은 가변적으로 대응하며, 완결을 지향하는 미완적 공간구성을 통해 미래의 확장가능성을 지닌 시스템을 구축하게 된다.
물질과 에너지의 순환성은 환경적 특성의 시각적 측면에서 지역재료나 재생재료를 순환적으로 활용하여 물리적인 지역환경에 시각적으로 친밀성을 부여하게 된다. 그리고, 순환적 개념과 구조적 일체화는 현대건축의 하이테크 기술에 의해 자연소재(물, 바람, 공기..)를 적극적으로 건축공간에 활용하고 있다.
Context에 의한 상호보완성은 시간적인 측면에서 재생과 복원의 개념을 통하여 과거로의 회기적 성격을 반영하여 오늘날의 건축적 문제점을 해결하고자 하였으며, 물리적 환경에 따른 측면으로서 자연요소의 도입과 확장에 따른 인간의 시각과 행위의 교감을 형성하고, 입면의 전방향성은 다양한 주변환경에 대응하여 건물의 입면이 각기 다른 모습을 가진다. 그리고, Feed Back 메커니즘의 반영을 통해 건축물의 입면이 외부환경의 자극에 대응하여 탄력적으로 변화하며, 외피의 완충적인 역할은 아트리움이나 이중외피를 통하여 제3의 공간을 형성하여 환경변화에 따른 충격을 흡수, 완화하는 성격을 띤다.
현대건축에서 나타나는 이러한 생태학적 디자인의 표현경향을 통해 오늘날의 추구하고자 하는 특성과 의미는 Green Community의 형성, 자연 회귀적 양상, 인공적인 자연형성, 은유성의 반영, 경제적인 ‘美’의 추구, 장소의 지역적 지식 반영 등을 들 수 있다. 이러한 특성들은 생태학적 디자인 개념화에 따라 분류되어진 5가지의 특성인 전체적 통일성, 유기적 구성의 다양성, 진화와 성장, 물질과 에너지의 순환성, Context에 의한 상호보완성에 의해 부분적으로 또는, 전체적으로 그 의미가 적용되어진다.
생태문제의 근본적인 원인 규명을 사회적 배경과 건축적 적용 배경을 통해 오늘날의 생태학적 디자인의 표현경향을 살펴봄으로써 앞으로의 현대건축이 가야 할 디자인 방향과 구체적인 의미를 정립하며, 생태학적인 측면과 경제성을 동시에 추구하는 현실적 방안을 적극적으로 살펴 보았다. 이러한 시도는 디자인의 내⋅외부에 관한 모든 측면에서 생태학적인 관계회복을 제시하고자 하며 인간의 삶의 환경에 대한 새로운 미적 가치를 제시하고 인간과 환경이 상호공존하여 지속가능할 수 있는 해결방안과 앞으로 건축분야에서 중요한 디자인의 영역이자 방법론으로서 생태학적 디자인의 가능성에 대해 제시하였음에 그 의미가 있을것이다. |

All creature of earth exists according to law of nature. And, only human adapts regulating and changing in environment by force of scientific technique. Human being's egocentric state of mind has begun to destroy the ecosystem gradually and rapidly And, in the 1970s, crisis of nature ecosystem that began to become an issue in Western civilization society was not limited in advanced nation that is going first on early simply.
Human survival against crisis of ecosystem had become serious problem, and, In spite of dreaming Utopia, Human Being as an inseperatable part of mother earth, has to deal with the crisis of ecosystem such as pollution of ecosystem, exhaution of resources, and human's alienation and came over by the 21th century ago gradually.
Nowaday, human beings adapt and change nature and enviroment artificially and at the same time, intend to return to the mother nature And, cognition about crisis situation started in technic literary fame that frustrate human work environment and basic desire of human and hope that infringe upon nature environment by dualistic thinking, Nature recognized to be human's one part that by spread gradually through ecological paradigm today in mechanical paradigm.
This point with mutual relationship between all area and relativity(依存性) and, joined with new philosophical physical though by being abreast with attitude pluralism since modernism which accommodate variability. And, sought 'new science movement' that draft in new view of the world according to this, and this system saw as organic and complementary 'One' that part and whole can not be detached by deriving Holistic Worldview.
Ecological worldview which is solution about crisis of nature environment that mankind faces understands all constituent that compose the earth by one living things, and do not think of nature as conquest object simply, and is being human original mother's body, and see object to find harmony. that is, methodology must be discovered and considered as a mediator between human beings and nature And, worthy of human development is continuous coexistence with nature, and it is that makes culture that can accomplish creation.
As being processed from mechanical paradigm to ecological paradigm, modern architecture must present frame of new method about design concerning three subjects relation of human, nature environment and, architecture And, through frame of this design, human, nature and, architecture can may do reciprocity coexistence, and improve quality of life.
Frame of ecological design grasps becoming concept of ecology and property of ecosystem in old, and by principle of ecological esthetics in architecture draw conceptualization process of specific ecological design.
Five principle that draw at ecological design conceptualization process, whole unity, variety of organic composition, evolution and growth, Circularity of material and energy, reciprocity by Context has involved with concept that present in ecological esthetics and organic property of ecosystem. And, In Matter of ecological design expression tendency in contemporary architecture analyzed as seeing aesthetic aspect through frame of conceptualization.
First, whole unity is in form imitation and analogical inference by shape of nature and, building is embodied, and has personality which building itself gets into naturalisation on surface of topography. And in space, reflect personality which have order system that adapt in hierarchal topography and, integrate surrounding environment by using special quality of glass And, as introducing equal color with surrounding environment attempted active harmony with surrounding environment.
Second, Variety of organic composition regerds building itself as organic volume that correspond in external environment. in aspect of corresponding to earth, Building appears by mode that correspond in dynamic current of topography and linear order , and this reflect stable construction system that follow in order system of nature. And, by optical diversification of objet, making in various layer of building reflects various effect visually.
Third, Evolution and growth is organism introduction or, by that is infiltrated vertical or horizontal in inside/outside space, building itself evolves and reflects appearance that grow forming And, according to life cycle of building, space corresponds as variable, and has system that future extension possibility through incompletion space for completion.
Forth, Circularity of material and energy takes advantage of area material or revival material circularly in optical side of special quality environment and, gives intimacy visually in physical area environment And, structural unification of circulatory concept is utilizing to architectural space actively in nature site(water, wind, air ..) by high-tech skill of contemporary architecture.
Fifth, Reciprocity by Context intended to solve solve problem in nowaday through concept of reforming and reconstitution in time side And, as side by physical environment , induction of nature element and being by extension make human's sight and consensus of action and, omnidirectional of elevation corresponds has different appearance in various surrounding environment And, through reflection of Feed Back mechanism, elevation of building is modified by elasticity corresponding in stimulation of external environment and, its role that is shock-absorbing of outer covering forms third space through Atrium or duplex outer covering and, absorb shock that follow in environment change.
Today's Architecture endeavers to find its properties and meanings in seeking through the expression tendency of ecological design, such as make of green community , restrospect for nature, make of artificial landscape, reflect of metaphor, pursuit of economic beauty and, reflect of place sense of site And, they can be applied to the ecological design conceptulization which I mensioned before (whole unity, variety of organic composition, evolution and growth, by circularity of material and energy, reciprocity by Context)
In Fundamental cause searching examination of mode of life problem, through application social backgrounds and architectural background in modern architecture, seeking for ecological design tendency of nowaday and, design direction and specific meaning we have to go in future and, observed realistic method that seek ecological aspect and economic performance simultaneously actively.
There may be the meaning presented about possibility of ecological design as wish to present ecological relation recovery in all design side and, Methodology was introduced to present to new esthetic value about environment of human's life and, field forward with solution way that human and environment take longevity to do reciprocity coexistence and, as area and methodology of important design, There may be the meaning presented about possibility of ecological design. |
