¿ä¾à1 Three dimensional whole body scanning technology was applied for the development and evaluation of some protective clothing systems. Especially for determining local and global distributions of surface area to be heat transferred and air volume between the wearer and protective clothing systems, Cyberware 3D whole body scanning technology was used. Quantifying the amount of air volume and their distributions and effects on clothing thermal insulation was one aspect of a multidisciplinary research purpose improving the function of protective clothing. To predict the thermal insulation of protective clothing from the three dimensionlly scanned data, air volume and surface area, some regression equations were developed as Rcle = (0.00003130 * Air Volume) - (2.68320406 * Surface Area) + 0.90332071 (R2 = 0.95) for the hip and Rcle = 0.0000029 * Air Volume) - (0.1296269 * Surface Area) + 0.30325239 (R2 = 0.92) for the whole body.
