¿ä¾à1 Recently, with the rapid progress into the urbanization in Korea, clustered housing becomes more typical form for residential. Land use can be more effective with the large-scale clustered housing, howevers, advanced privacy makes the life style very isolated and individual. This study focused the preference of ¡°Cohousing¡± for the elderly people (senior cohousing) of the middle and older adults. The survey was conducted by questionnaires collected from 400 persons with the age 40 and older. The results of the study was as follows: The preferred form of senior cohousing was 2~3 story multifamily, rental housing, for 10~29 households (20~29 pyung each individual unit), located in suburban areas. Also, exercise room, hobby room, meeting room, vegetable garden, family garden, and playground were required as the common spaces. It was different that necessity of senior cohousing, willingness of residence at senior cohousing according to age, education level, income, in the number of contact with children. Other conclusions were also made and implications to develop senior cohousing as a housing alternative for later life were suggested.
